About Andrew “Augie” Apuzzo – Owner/Upholsterer

Andrew Apuzzo, or Augie as he is known by his family and friends, started his career in upholstery in 1958 at the age of 18. He worked at Elmwood Upholstery in New Haven, CT and built his skills as a stock boy, filling cushions, and doing upholstery. Over his career, he honed his craft and added to his expertise and became a foreman at Sealy. Due to his love of upholstery and antiques, Augie branched out on his own and opened the Custom Shoppe family business in 1989. He takes great pride in his craft and works closely with his customers to ensure they are satisfied. Over the years, he’s included his immediate and extended family in the business. All the family is involved! There’s even a shop dog, Patches, eager to greet all customers as they arrive. Come by today to say hi!
